It what can only be described as absurd in the latest water bills saga, Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin came out to the Dail today with one thing on his mind – unpaid water bills.
Martin claimed:
“what is lawfully owed should be paid”, it’s the law.
“Unlike others our position is that you don’t pick and choose what lawful payments you make,” he continued, raising many eyebrows in the chamber.
“As democrats it is up to us to use legitimate democratic means to change policies and this is exactly what I said repeatedly, before during and after the Election.”
“I believe that the legitimate place for the future of water policy to be settled is here in the Dáil.”
It now appears Fianna Fail are joining their new-found friends Fine Gael in actually doing a U-turn on water bills and expecting everyone to pay the immoral charge even though Irish Water is going to scrapped, or at least postponed indefinitely.
