Former press secretary PJ Mara passed away this morning at the age of 73.
Mr. Mara had worked as former Taoiseach Charles Haughey’s press officer back in the 1980s, and later as director for elections under Bertie Ahern’s reign in the decade between 1997 and 2007.
Mara has been described as “the most effective campaign director in Irish political history.”
