It really does beggar belief – the number of people who are homeless in Ireland has surpassed 8,500 including some 3,500 children.
To add insult to injury, there’s around 100,000 people waiting on the social housing list also.
The homelessness crisis has steadily worsened over the last 12 months, with no sign of stopping anytime soon.
The Government intends to alleviate the issue by providing 200 beds and ‘housing’ as many rough sleepers as possible inside Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.
