Russia President Vladimir Putin has claimed that a U.S businessman, Hermitage Capital CEO Bill Browder, of dogging taxes both in Russia and the U.S and working with corrupt officials within the Russian government to funnel $400 million to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign via her charity the Clinton Foundation the New York Times reports.
President Putin made the allegations in response to President’s Trump’s reference to some in the U.S political and intelligence apparatus still alleging Russian interference in the U.S’ 2016 Presidential election.
President Putin stated that Mr Browder may have made the massive contribution to Hillary Clinton legally the money he obtained in Russia amounting to over $1.5 billion was not made legally Fox News reported.
Putin went to allege that the Russian government has information that shows that corrupt Russian intelligence officials conspired with Browder to funnel this money to the Clinton campaign.
However the businessman at the centre of all this, Mr Browder himself says that the whole thing is completely exaggerated tweeting that it was in fact 400 thousand, not 400 million. He went onto say that it was basically amateur hour with Putin and his staff.
