The Liberal understands that one of the main landmark hotels just off the M1 motorway is allegedly going to be used as a migrant centre.

The Crowne Plaza in Dundalk, Co Louth is one of the town’s most celebrated hotels with business meetings, weddings and functions – but it appears all that is allegedly about to change, or at least be altered.

The Liberal understands that the hotel’s signage is to be removed on Thursday, August 31st, with a new sign and hotel name being erected. It’s also understood that allegedly a large contingent of migrants from various parts of the world will be brought to the hotel.

If the migrant move does indeed go ahead, it’s not yet known whether the entire hotel will be facilitating migrants or whether part of it will remain as a regular hotel.

The Liberal contacted a number of people living in the area who say that no consultation has occurred between the hotel, politicians, local business and the wider community on the alleged migrant centre.

Locals say that such a move of bringing a large number of migrants into the town could lead to numerous problems.
