Gardai have taken into custody a 35-year-old man from Dublin after persuading him to come up from a ledge over the river.
It was originally believed the man had actually entered the water earlier this morning, sparking a complex search operation involving Gardai, fire engines, a coast guard helicopter and other emergency personnel.
The man was subsequently discovered under Parnell Bridge, near Cork city’s main bus station.
After long negotiations, the man abandoned the bridge and agreed to come out. Gardai took him into custody earlier this afternoon.
