We have all seen the stock footage of Covid-19 throat and nose tests on the media.
For many, even watching these swab tests is disgusting but spare a thought for travellers to China. According to the Metro, China has now made anal swab tests compulsory for all arrivals into their country.
The humiliating procedure involves inserting a swab up to 5cm into your anus and rotating the swab on the way out.
Chinese doctors believe the Coronavirus can be detected in the anus for longer than in the respiratory tract, making anal testing more reliable.
The Japanese government complained about the procedure this week, saying its citizens had been subjected to ‘great psychological pain’.
I for one won’t be going to China any time soon as a result of this. What about you? Maybe the Chinese want to keep foreign travellers out of their country by making anan swab tests compulsory?
