The Irish Navy vessel the LÉ Eithne has yet again rescued migrants stranded in rough sea’s today.
The navy vessel is understood to have rescued 519 migrants, off three separate vessels heading form Tripoli this morning. The vessel rescued 104 migrants from an inflatable craft 50 miles of the Tripoli coast. A short time later the crew were summoned to assist with the rescue of a further 362 migrants who were stranded on a barge in the same area.
However the crew’s day didn’t stop there as they received another call to rescue a further 53 migrants on a small fibreglass boat off the coast of the Libyan capital.
