Gardai have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body with gunshot wounds in a burned-out house in Castlebar.
The body was found inside a property in the Pheasanthill area of the town on Sunday evening.
It is understood that the victim was a male in his 80s. He had been shot a number of times.
A man in his 60s has been arrested in connection with this incident.
