The crew on board the well known Irish Navy vessel Le Niamh has made the news once again recently for their heroic work after rescuing 358 migrants from a stranded wooden barge in the Mediterranean Sea.
The heroic operation is understood to have taken place 110 km off the northwest coast of Tripoli on Friday afternoon. It is understood that the stranded migrants where desperately attempting to make their way to Europe.
The crew on board the vessel courageously rescued the large number of migrants attempting to flee their homeland in order to find better living conditions, they were subsequently brought back to a nearby port where they were given food, water and medical attention.
