Gardaí in Drogheda have launched a full scale investigation after an arson attack took place on a house in the town in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí say the disgraceful incident occurred at a bungalow on the Old Coach Road in the Monasterboice area on the outskirts of the town. It is understood that fire broke out when an object was thrown through the kitchen window of the house at approximately 2am this morning. Gardaí have said thankfully no one was injured in the attack after the heroics of one the occupants who raised the alarm and got the remaining people out of the house.
It is believed that two units of the Drogheda fire service were sent to tackle the blaze. Gardaí say they are currently appealing for witnesses.
