Staying in? Research shows most Irish people are planning on staying in on New Year’s Eve

nye

According to research published in the New Year’s Eve Traditions Report, 8 out of 10 people will be staying indoors on New Year’s Eve.

The research shows that 39% aren’t even planning on waiting up until 12 o’clock, they plan on sleeping through to the New Year!

Expensive door entries, overpriced food and drink and transport costs shows why 71% of those polled say are the reasons why people would be staying in.

Allegedly people started to say indoors for New Year’s Eve way back for the new Millennium.

Pubs were charging 30 punt (at the time) to even get in the door, and that was before you even had a drink.

People had enough of it and decided to have house parties, family gatherings and just watching the entertainment on television – what they found was that they had as much if not more fun and from there more and more people have started to stay indoors.
