An Aer Lingus flight en route to Chicago today had to return to Dublin due to a medical emergency of a passenger.
Cabin crew on flight EI-123 noticed a passenger in great difficulty approximately 90 minutes into the flight.
An on-board doctor assessed the passenger before the decision was made for the flight to make a U-turn.
The alarm was raised and paramedics waited at the terminal to attend to the passenger upon landing.
Airport fire services were also placed on standby as a pre-caution due to the overweight landing of the aircraft.
The Airbus A330-300 landed safely at Dublin airport at 3.35pm.
