It’s been announced and confirmed by garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan that Ireland will see a “whopping” 20 garda members added to its Army Response Unit (ARU).
This is said to be in direct response to the Islamic terrorist attack in London at the weekend.
It’s understood that both Commissioner O’Sullivan and Deputy Commissioner John Twomey believe that after a “paper test”, gardai could respond to a potential Islamic terrorist attack within 8 minutes, the same time that London’s Metropolitan police managed to contain the situation on Saturday night.
