Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Government will not deliver on a pledge made by the previous Housing Minister Simon Coveney to take hundreds of families out of temporary accommodation by July 1 this year.
The new pallbearer of the housing coffin, Eoghan Murphy, has today confirmed that the set deadline will now not happen.
The pledge had been a key deliverable on the Government’s latest initiative to tackle homelessness, which spiralled out of control over the last 24 months or so.
Hundreds of families will now remain in limbo for an unspecified period of time longer, despite promises to the contrary.
