Kenny: ‘You will have to choose between Fine Gael and Sinn Fein at the next election.’

Speaking from the Isle of Man today, the Taoiseach fired an opening salvo on the Irish electorate, stating that people will need to choose to put Fine Gael back in power, or have Sinn Fein lead a coalition Government.

He also spoke about the ‘perilous’ economic situation he and his party inherited from the previous Cabinet, and how the country was, according to him, three months away from financial Armageddon.

The Taoiseach refused to corroborate claims by Defence Minister Simon Coveney that the Army would have been called upon to prevent a run on the banks, if things had taken a turn for the worse.

The political landscape after the next general election is far from clear at this point, of course, but if the current polls are anything to go by, the current Coalition will be largely gone by then.

Fine Gael’s approval rating currently hovers around 22%, while Labour has descended to a lowly 7%.
