There was some big news in the entertainment world today as media outlets in the US have revealed that Disney is on the verge of purchasing 21st century FOX’s Television and Movie assets.
The deal which will reportedly cost $52.4 billion dollars will see Disney retain the rights of FOX’s television and movie franchise which includes the previous Star Wars movies and the highly acclaimed X-Men movies.
In a move that has been the subject of speculation for the past three months Disney will pay the media giant for their catalogue in a bid to rival other companies such as Amazon and Netflix.
The deal which looks to be a dream amongst movie goers will only apply to the Television and Movie franchise with FOX’s news and sports assets being left untouched.
Although it is not yet known what Disney plans to do with their new acquisitions, fans across the globe have already begun to speculate with films including Avatar, Star Wars and X-Men set to be taken in a different direction.
