Motorists have been advised to be extremely vigilant while driving tonight and tomorrow morning especially.
Snowfalls have covered most parts of Leinster and with many inland counties are seeing severe black ice on several roads, including B roads that haven’t been gritted.
Both the gardai and the AA have issued warnings to motorists to leave early, drive slow and to try and avoid roads that haven’t been gritted.
More snow is expected over the coming 24 hours with council workers gritting as many roads as possible before the next snowfall.
