Homeowners could soon be facing a property tax increase after the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe confirmed that changes to the system will be introduced in 2020.
It is understood the changes which will come after concerns were made about the increase in property prices.
In an announcement on Monday, Mr Donohoe said that any changes won’t be made until next year and those changes will only see moderate increases to the overall tax levy.
Mr Donohoe also said any proposed changes must be clearly understood before they are implemented.
It is thought the changes to property tax system have been considered after a number of property experts have warned that the the tax could rapidly rise given the increase property prices.
