A woman in the US state of Arizona is set to appear in court after her two young children tragically died in a hot car.
The woman Brittany Velasquez is scheduled to appear before a court on August 10th, after she was charged by police for leaving the two children aged 2 and 10 months in a sweltering hot car for more than 14 hours whilst she went to work.
Ms Velasquez was arrested by police after she left the two infants named Lorenzo and Brooklyn, inside the car last March.
Following a lengthy investigation, police in Superior, found that both infants died as a result of neglect after their mother left them inside the vehicle with temperatures reaching almost 24C outside.
Despite the mother’s claims that she was unaware that her children were still inside the car, investigating officers arrested the mother of two after a follow up investigation revealed no evidence supporting her claims that someone else was supposed to be looking after her children.
Ms Velasquez was ordered this week to appear before court for a pre trial hearing after she was charged with second degree murder.
