As one social media commentator said, quite simply they’ve had enough!
Sixty seven percent of voters in the Swiss region of St. Gallen have supported a motion to ban burqas in public spaces, thus paving the way for new laws to that effect.
St. Gallen becomes the second Swiss canton to enforce such ban, after the Ticino region recently passed similar legislation.
While a nationwide ban was rejected by Government, a second vote on the issue may be held after a right-wing party gathered enough signatures to propose a referendum.
