The Government have confirmed that the national minimum wage will be increased by 25c per hour from January 1st, 2019.
In his Budget announcement made on Tuesday, the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe confirmed that the new minimum wage will be €9.80 an hour.
It is understood the increase comes following a recommendation from the Low Pay Commission.
Mr Donohoe also confirmed that a number of changes will be made to accommodate those living on the minimum wage.
The Finance Minister confirmed that the USC rates for low income workers will be increased from €19,372 to €19,874 in order to stop minimum wage workers being moved into a higher tax bracket.
Meanwhile the weekly PRSI rate will be increased from €376 to €386.
