A 49 year-old convicted sex offender from Co Kerry has been sentenced to ten years in prison for molesting a 14-year-old boy for a two year period.
The man in question John Prendiville with an address of no fixed abode had pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to sexually assaulting the young boy, who was living in residential care at the time. The court was also told that Prendiville’s had a astonishing total of 33 previous convictions which included five counts of sexual assault and four convictions for failing to notify the Gardaí whilst he was on release and placed under the Sex Offender’s Act.
The Judge over seeing the case Justice Paul Carney did however suspend the final two years of the imposed 12-year prison sentence on condition that Mr Prendiville has no contact with the victim whatsoever and he undergoes 18 months of post release supervision.
