A spokesman for the Residential Landlords Association has suggested today that any tenants who refuse to pay water charges should have their water supply shut off.
He has also said that rents may increase if landlords are forced to foot the bill themselves. A suggestion that landlords could take any unpaid monies from the tenant’s deposits was flatly refused by the organization.
Landlords have requested a meeting with Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly to find a solution to the issue.
Meanwhile, the Government is due to address any concerns surrounding unpaid bills in the upcoming Water Services Bill 2015.
