If you thought that some back roads out there could do with a bit of a makeover, you are not alone.
The Minister for Transport Pascal Donohoe has today announced a major investment program to fix or improve some of the regional road network.
Around €300m will be spent on the works, which will allow for restoration and completion of existing infrastructure.
This budget will be fully invested on areas outside the capital, because the four Dublin local authorities are able to pay for road works from the local property tax.
