The Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, has revealed that restoration work to Leinster House will cost more than the previously estimated €15m.
Speaking before an Oireachtas Committee on Tuesday, Minister Moran revealed that the project will cost more than previously thought.
It is understood that the overruns come due to the age of the building although a final figure had not been specified as architects are still reviewing the building.
Speaking before the Committee Mr Moran said the vast majority of the funding required will be spent on structural work.
Meanwhile the chair of the Office of Public Works, Maurice Buckley, also told the committee that a solid accounting process is in place to monitor any potential overruns.
