American actor Yaphet Kotto has passed away aged 81.
Kotto had a long career in film and TV, but was perhaps best known for his roles as Bond villain Dr. Kananga in Live and Let Die (1973) and Parker, Chief Engineer of the Nostromo craft in Alien (1979). Kotto’s role as Dr. Kananga was notable, as it was the first black villain in the Bond series.
He is survived by his wife Thessa Sinahon and six children.
