An American tourist in Thailand could face 2 years in jail for posting negative reviews of a hotel on Tripadvisor.
Wesley Barnes posted two scathing reviews of the Sea View Resort on Koh Chang island, accusing the hotel of ‘modern day slavery’, the BBC reports. Under Thailand’s extremely strict anti-defamation laws, the US national could face a prison sentence of two years.
The US national’s anger reportedly stemmed from an altercation with management over the hotel charging him for drinking his own alcohol on the premises. According to the hotel, his bad reviews had cost them business with many visitors cancelling their stays.
