An incensed judge has been informed that a lady has received just under €59,000 in personal injury damages from nine different insurance companies without ever having to go to court, reports Breaking News.
Two claims made by Anne Keenan of Church Drive, Clarecastle, Ennis, Co. Clare, and her friend Catherine McCarthy of Shelly Drive, Cloughleigh, Ennis, were dismissed by Circuit Civil Court Judge Michael Walsh on the grounds that they were frivolous and fraudulent.
It was exceedingly doubtful that the collision the 66-year-old ladies described had occurred at all, the court informed lawyer Robert O’Geibheannaigh, counsel for a taxi driver and his insurance Allianz, who insisted on contesting the fresh €60,000 claims of the two women, reports Breaking News.
“Mr Dolan was adamant there was no collision or accident and said his phone was attached to the dash at all times during the journey,” Judge Walsh said. “I am satisfied neither woman was involved in an accident,” reports Breaking News.
“I don’t find them to be credible and I am satisfied it was highly unlikely that a collision occurred,” he said, reports Breaking News.
