Just days before Christmas, archaeologists in Israel have uncovered an Ancient Church Built on the site which is believed to have hosted Christ’s Last Supper.

The Last Supper is thought to have taken place on the site of the long lost Byzantine church known as the Church of the Agony and the Church of All Nations in Jerusalem.

The church is also believed to be the site of infamous betrayal of Jesus by Judas who identified him to the Roman authorities who then arrested him before his trial and crucifixion.

The church is decorated with finely carved stone elements, indicating its importance, according to Artnet news.

Greek inscriptions on the building’s floor allude to the Christ sacrifice reading:
“For the memory and repose of the lovers of Christ… accept the offering of your servants and give them remission of sins.”
