‘Tis going to be a wet evening today.
Met Eireann has issued a yellow rainfall warning for much of the country, with 17 counties expected to be hit by heavy rainfall.
Donegal, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo will by now have endured the worst of it, but Waterford and the whole of Leinster will only get it bad from 6pm onwards.
Dublin will be hit by a combination of heavy rainfall and high tides at 11pm tonight. Such double act has led to local flooding in the past. The Council has deployed extra staff to coastal areas as a precautionary measure, and it’s considering shutting the floodgates at the river Dodder.
Early darkness and heavy rain will make for hazardous driving conditions, so do exercise caution if at the wheel tonight.
