Breaking: Irish Water to introduce nationwide hospipe ban beginning on Friday

Irish Water have confirmed that a nationwide hosepipe ban will be implemented from Friday as water levels across the country continue to drop.

The ban which will apply to all non-essential use of water supplies will be implemented nationwide from Friday onwards.

It is believed the ban was introduced after chiefs at Irish Water held a meeting this afternoon to discuss the possibility of implementing a ban across the country.

Although night time water restrictions have been implemented across the country, Irish Water say a hosepipe must be implemented as water supplies have become significantly low.

The ban which will be the same as the one implemented in the Greater Dublin area, comes into effect as Met Eireann have warned that little to no rainfall is expected over the next 10 days.

The national forecaster who have also warned of further high temperatures say drought like conditions are expected during the current heatwave.
