The bomb squad were called to Cork City earlier today after a suspicious device was found at a public park in the Boreenmanna area.
The team were at the scene for less than half an hour, and managed to make the device safe without the need for a controlled explosion. They confirmed it was indeed a viable device.
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the finding.
