
Gardai have confirmed that a teenage boy has died in a road traffic incident in Co Limerick.
The 16-year-old was walking on a road when he was hit by a car at Garraunboy near Adare just before 4am on Sunday morning.
The driver of the car, believed to be a man aged in his late 40s, was uninjured from the incident but is in shock.
The scene of the incident has been preserved and garda forensic collision investigators will conduct an examination later today.
The N21 road at the Newcastle West side of Adare village remains closed and local diversions are in place until the forensic examination has been carried out.
