The first case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland it has been revealed.
In an announcement the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, confirmed that a man who resides in the Eastern half of the country was diagnosed with the illness.
It is believed that the man recently returned to Ireland from Northern Italy in recent days.
The centre say that they are carrying out procedures in line with established protocols.
