Gardai have announced that a 29-yr-old man has been arrested after he tried to set a garda on fire.
It’s understood that the man is currently being detained in Newbridge garda station in Kildare after he allegedly attempted to set the station and a garda on fire shortly after 9pm on Monday night.
The man bought a bottle of a flammable fluid, entered the garda station, poured it onto the public counter and allegedly tried to douse a garda. He also had a lighter in his hand but was then attacked by two other gardai.
It’s not yet known whether the man will be charged or set free with a file being prepared for the DPP.
