There’s chaotic scenes in Dundalk, Co. Louth this evening after a car drive at speed through a huge crowd at the Blessing of the Graves ceremony in the Dowdallshill area of the town.
It’s understood that at least one elderly man is badly injured with a number of other people injured, according to early reports from eye-witnesses.
It’ understood that a dark coloured car drove in the main gate of the graveyard with an alleged kidnap attempt being made – it must be stressed that this has not yet been confirmed or denied by gardai but witnesses are claiming this occurred.
The car clipped a number of people in the incident but managed to escape the graveyard with a major garda chase ensuing.
It’s understood that a crash then occurred with gardai surrounding the car.
