BREAKING: Storm Aiden – Met Eireann issue status orange weather warning for these counties




A weather system associated with Storm Aiden is expected to bring strong winds and gusts of up to 130km/h in some locations, as Met Éireann issues a series of weather alerts.

A Status Orange wind alert will go into effect from 5am Saturday for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry and Waterford and will remain in effect until at least 10am..

The winds associated with Storm Aiden are expected to reach average speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with strong and damaging gusts of 100 to 130km/h.

A separate wind advisory in the orange state for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Clare will be in effect from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Meanwhile, a countrywide yellow wind warning will appear nationwide from tonight until 4:00pm with strong and potentially damaging gusts in some areas.
