
The national bus carrier plans to make cuts to 93 routes due to insufficient passenger numbers, in a move which would result in fifteen towns and villages being left without a direct link to the nation’s capital by the end of the month.
The services affected are Route 7 to Cork via Kilkenny and Route 5 to Waterford via Wexford. The service from Athlone to Westport is also facing the axe.
Bus Eireann has said that if the Government wants rural services to be preserved, additional subsidies must be provided.
