Cash is king: All govt depts announce they’ll accept cash under new scheme




A plan to mandate that all government agencies and state entities accept or facilitate cash payments will be proposed by the minister of finance and approved by the cabinet, reports RTE.

Jack Chambers will inform his Cabinet colleagues that many people in society, especially the elderly, still prefer to pay with cash, thus it’s critical that they may continue to do so in their daily lives.

The policy also stipulates that monetary payments must be a part of any future agreements made between government agencies and outside organisations that request money from the general population, reports RTE.

A separate action plan to hire more planners to expedite the delivery of houses and infrastructure will be presented to the Cabinet by Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien.

This will involve expanding the number of spots available for students enrolled in approved planning courses.

To encourage planners from this nation who are employed elsewhere to come back, a relocation program will be implemented, reports RTE.

In order to draw qualified planners to Ireland, a focused recruitment effort will also be launched in the UK and the European Economic Area.

To replace the position that has been unfilled since last March, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee will request that the government choose a new Deputy Commissioner of An Garda Síochána, reports RTE.

It comes after the Public Appointments Service held an open competition.

It is acknowledged that there was fierce competition for the post and that there were many candidates, reports RTE.
