Gardai are investigating a report of a man in a van who attempted to entice a 6-yr-old primary school girl into his van by offering her strawberries. The alleged incident took place in the Villa Park areas of Dublin 7.
The child refused the offer of strawberries and was able to get away safely from the man but was very frightened by the ordeal.
A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live, ”Gardai responded to reports of an incident which occurred on the Navan Road, Dublin on the 9 June 2021 at approximately 1:00pm. No further information is available and enquiries are ongoing.”
Gardai have not given any details of the type of van used or a description of the alleged abductor but it’s understood that a number of community text alerts were sent out as a result of the incident.
Dublin’s Northside has seen a number of attempted child abductions in recent months.
