A teenager in the UK has been described as “thug” on social media after it emerged that he was arrested on suspicion of purposely damaging a life-saving defibrillator.

The 17-yr-old was arrested after he was allegedly seen on CCTV vandalising the defibrillator kit in the early hours of Sunday morning, the club said.

Buxted FC in East Sussex said the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, was utterly heartbreaking and that it could have cost lives.

Posting on Twitter, the club said: “Last night at 12:50am, our defibrillator was vandalised.”

According to RTE, Richard Turner, the chairman of Buxted FC said the incident was “absolutely disgusting” when he spoke to the PA news agency.

“Those things save people’s lives and someone has come and trashed it,” he told the PA news agency.

“The whole world saw what happened to Christian Eriksen on Saturday so why would anyone think that’s ok?”

Sussex Police said they they know that there’s a video circulating on social media of the incident.
