Cliffs of Moher welcomes one millionth visitor today


On the brighter side of news today, it has been announced that the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare has welcomed its one millionth visitor of the year.

The millionth person to visit the popular tourist attraction was an American lady by the name of Rita Shaw from Florida, as part of the celebrations for the milestone event, Mrs Shaw was greeted with music and a champagne reception at precisely one minute past eleven this morning. Mrs Shaw was also given a certificate to mark the occasion and a return holiday to Co Clare worth €5,000.

A spokesperson for tourism Ireland has welcomed the news saying it is the first time the milestone figure has been reached at the visitor attraction. They also stated that visitor numbers are up 12% on this time last year.
