Cork teenager shortlisted for the Top 20 young people in the world

Joanne O’Riordan, from Millstreet in Cork, has been shortlisted as one of the top 20 young people in the world by Junior Chamber International.

She achieved the inclusion in the list due to her work as an activist for disabled rights. She had gained some notoriety in the past for challenging the Government for cutting funds to people with disabilities.

Joanne suffers from Total Amelia, a congenital disorder characterised by the absence of all four limbs. Only six others in the world have the same condition.

People can boost Joanne’s position in the list by voting for her, to ensure she gets into the top ten. If she does, she would get a chance to win an award that has been won by the likes of John F Kennedy, Henry Kissinger and the great Jackie Chan in the past.
