Indonesian authorities have detained several people in the capital Jakarta and seized upwards of 60,000 stockpiled masks.
Local police said that these people were likely engaged in black market activities and intended to profiteer from the coronavirus outbreak by selling masks at inflated prices.
The Indonesian Government has vowed to apply criminal law to those caught attempting to gain financially on the back of the ongoing health crisis.
