Hot weather prompted as many as 40,000 people to hit the beach, despite repeated warnings to stay at home and observe social distancing guidelines.
Nevertheless, Newport Beach and Huntington Beach were packed with beachgoers on Friday and Saturday.
California has so far reported over 42,000 cases of Covid-19, with over 1,600 confirmed deaths.
