Covid-19: British authorities say that social distancing in airports ‘would cause kilometre-long queues for boarding’

British authorities have today said that social distancing in airports wouldn’t be a feasible solution to prevent the spread of Covid-19, as they ‘would cause kilometre-long queues for boarding.’

Larger aircraft in particular, which carry 500-plus people, would cause greater difficulties, with many analysts saying that the airport wouldn’t be large enough to accommodate the queue, if a 2m distance between people were to be kept.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the travel industry to a standstill, with most airlines forced to ground their fleet for the foreseeable future.
