Covid-19: Coronavirus infections surpass 4m in the United States, more than the entirety of cases in Europe combined

The US has hit a rather grim milestone in the coronavirus pandemic, after the number of cases surpassed 4m there.

This figure far exceeds the total European cases of more than 3m.

Official figures put the number of deaths in the States as more than 144,000.
