The coronavirus situation in Ireland has deteriorated significantly again, following the confirmation of 1,758 new infections today.
Health authorities have also said that there are 248 people with serious Covid-19-related illness in hospitals across the country today, 48 of whom are in intensive care.
There is increased concern that the current vaccines might not be overly effective against the Delta variant, despite the offical narrative.
