Health authorities are reporting a significant increase in the number of patients admitted to hospital with severe Covid-19-induced disease across Ireland.
As of 8am today, there were 169 patients in hospital with severe symptoms. There were 160 at the same time on Thursday.
It is unclear whether these patients were vaccinated or unvaccinated.
